Why Teeth hurt when chewing? May this be some of the causes!

The pain that appears in cavities when chewing is caused by the opening of the inner layer of the tooth called dentin. Dentin is a layer that is very sensitive to various painful stimuli such as:

Teeth hurt when chewing

- Food and drinks that are too hot and cold
- Pressure from mastication
- Blowing air or wind

In addition, if the cavities are very large or deep, then the hole may have hit the nerve of the tooth. The nerve of the tooth that is opened due to the hole, over time can become inflamed and experience an infection at the tip of the root called an abscess. The abscess will be painful when touched or pressed by hand or with pressure that comes from masticatory movements. In order not to hurt anymore when chewing, you should immediately consult a dentist so that further treatment can be done such as fillings.

When cavities are filled, the exposed dentin layer can be closed and protected from various painful stimuli.

If the pain is unbearable, you can temporarily take pain relievers. However, taking the drug will not solve the problem in the long term, because the pain will reappear once the effects of the drug wear off.
